Will you help a friend impacted by Hurricane Helene?

Ranae Sheppard is lucky to be alive.

A wife, mother of four, and integral litigation support provider to law firms like mine, Ranae was among the many North Carolina residents whose lives were turned upside down (or worse) in less than 24 hours by Hurricane Helene’s force and carnage.

For days, Ranae could not do the things that you and I take for granted, like communicating with the outside world. Ranae had to enter parking lots and alleys to let her mom and boss know she was alive and safe. Ranae cannot access her home, which has no power, water, or cell reception. And she may not be able to return until November. (The main water line for her town was 11 feet underwater. So, they must rebuild it, which could take months.)

Fortunately, Ranae and her family made it out of North Carolina. Her husband found some old gasoline in a shed, which enabled them to make it to a gas station. There, they sat for two hours before Ranae evacuated North Carolina to Georgia with four children under the age of five while her husband remained in North Carolina to support the police.

As I type this post, Ranae is with her four children at an Airbnb in Marietta. She has had to discard over $2500 worth of food trying to find shelter, moving from house to house. (This does not include all the perishable items in her NC home.)

This is quite literally Ranae’s worst nightmare.

Ranae and her family need our help.

  • Her husband can’t work right now, so Ranae is the sole provider. Ranae works on commission. If you are a litigator, please consider connecting with Ranae on LinkedIn or emailing her directly (rshepherd@istmanagement.com) to book depositions, obtain discovery support, conduct forensic collections, or assist with document review.
  • If you are able, please consider supporting Ranae and her family directly by donating to her GoFundMe. (I will conduct a free one-hour online workplace training for the three biggest corporate supporters who are not current clients.)
  • And if you can’t provide financial support, perhaps you know someone who can. Likes, comments, and shares of this post about Ranae on LinkedIn will expand its reach.

Above all, please keep Ranae and her family in your prayers.

Thank you.
