Now, I know what the Allman Brothers were really singing about. It was the DOL’s Overtime Rules!

Sometimes I feel….

Good lord I feel like I’m dyin…

[and for those who want 19 minutes and 31 seconds of Whipping Post]

When we last discussed the U.S. Department of Labor’s proposed overtime rules, they were being fed castor oil like Baby Puss in that episode of Tom & Jerry.

Let’s get you brought up to speed…

The DOL’s appeal of a Texas federal judge’s nationwide injunction is still pending at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The states just filed their brief. Oral argument has yet to be scheduled.

But, the bigger news is that, last Friday, Andrew Restuccia and Nick Juliano reported here at Politico at that President Trump ordered an “immediate regulatory freeze.” The article points out that Barack Obama did the same thing back in 2009 when he asked everyone to slow their roll on pending regulations from the George W. Bush administration.

In plain English, the “immediate regulatory freeze” means that nothing is going to happen with the overtime rules for at least 60 days.
