Here, I’ll prove it.
Several news outlets have reported that a Florida high school principal is no longer employed at the school after he allegedly told a parent, he ‘can’t say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event’
Here’s more from Nicole Darrah reporting here for Fox News:
The Florida high school principal who refused to say the Holocaust happened because “not everyone believes” the historical event actually occurred has been fired.
[The] principal of Spanish River High School in Boca Raton was initially reassigned when it was revealed he made the comments in April 2018. But on Wednesday, the [] school board voted to oust him from the district.
The ‘comments’ are in an email that the Palm Beach Post published.
Among other things, the principal wrote, “[N]ot everyone believes the Holocaust happened and you have your thoughts but we are a public school and not all of our parents have the same beliefs so they will react differently,…I can’t say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event because I am not in a position to do so as a school district employee.”
Amazingly, the principal appeared to double down by questioning slavery in a similar vein, “I do allow information about the Holocaust to be presented and allow students and parents to make decisions about It accordingly. I do the same with Information about slavery, I don’t take a position but allow for the Information to be presented and parents to be parents and educate their students accordingly.”
If one of your employees is a revisionist historian, you probably won’t know it. And, even if you do, the employee’s re-interpretation of history won’t impact the workplace in any material way.
Except, of course, in a situation like this one here. Such stupidity/insensitivity memorialized in email and shared with a co-worker or customer (or in this case a student’s parent) requires appropriate discipline.
